Even Made: Our Story

Even Made started with a dream about a mom commune, a pandemic-era scroll, and a deep love for power tools. Kelly (and two other founders) wanted to create the kind of space she wished she’d had when she was covered in sawdust and swearing at grout lines—somewhere to learn real home improvement skills, laugh through the mess, and feel totally capable doing it.

What started as a simple idea has grown into a collective of women led by Kelly, the ultimate community-builder. She brings people together to learn DIY home repair and renovation in a way that feels fun, doable, and judgment-free.

We’re here to help you feel confident in your space—whether you're tiling a backsplash for the first time, patching drywall, or finally learning how to caulk. We’ll cheer you on, laugh with you, and hand you the right tool when you need it.

Even Made is always growing, just like our community. We offer hands-on workshops to teach home improvement skills to beginners, led by women and people who get it. Everyone’s welcome. No gatekeeping. No weird vibes. Just real people learning real skills, together.

Meet Our Instructors

Kelly (Founder)

In addition to Even Made, my time is full with my teen twins, husband, two dogs, advocacy and policy career, community organizing, and volunteering. In my rare downtime, I love to make miniatures, bake, bike, and garden.

Kristen

During the day, I am an Instructional Assistant for a high school special education program and an Assistant College Women’s Basketball Coach. Outside of work, I stay active with home improvement projects, outdoor activities, cheering on my kids, and fostering animals! While I take pleasure in helping others with their projects, my greatest joy comes from sharing my passion, knowledge, and skills with those eager to empower themselves! I’m thrilled to be a part of the Even Made team and look forward to meeting you in class!

Teresa

My day job for the past 17 years has been estimating and project managing in the commercial flooring industry. This has instilled in me the necessity of proper planning, budgeting and workflow required for a successful project. Whether you need help with one step or the whole design process, I’m here to support you. Two years ago, I started my side hustle, Handy Girl Design. I am super excited for the next step in my design journey, joining the inspiring women of Even Made to bring DIY joy to everyone who needs our help!

Sarah

Growing up with DIY parents, I helped with many projects like painting the living room or building a family cabin. I was always encouraged to try new things and mess up along the way, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to create that space with Even  Made. During the week I am full time painter and wallpaper installer. In my free time I enjoy caring for my many plants and creating art or tackling some sort of creative project. I’ll see you in the shop!

Katie

Katie joined the Even Made community as a student before leveling up into an instructor. Katie is a first-time landlord (ahh!) and aspiring woodworker (ooh!) with a special interest in woodworking with hand tools. They live in Avondale where they love to escape to nature, hang out with their cat, and of course attempt to woodwork. 

Stephanie

Stephanie is often armed with both a tool box and a craft box, because operating a drill and tying a bow are essential life skills. Especially when you are also a florist.

Stephanie LOVES to make a home feel more like YOU - and is thrilled to discuss ways to achieve this, whether it's rearranging furniture or gutting your bathroom. Let's talk.

Want to join us?

  • We typically offer 5 classes a week (4 in-person and 1 online), for which we assign teachers based on their availability and skillset
  • We post the schedule 3 months at a time so you can plan your life stuff
  • Virtual classes are 1 hour long, in-person classes are 2 hours, and Masterclasses are 3 hours (reserved for instructors with expertise in the given subject). Prep time before and cleanup after is also paid time.
  • We supply all of the materials and course curricula, plus training to make sure you're prepared
  • We welcome your inputs: We supply everything you need to successfully teach class, but we welcome your contributions too!
  • We pay $35 per hour
  • We like to think we're a pretty rad bunch
