Basic Carpentry: Wood Types, Cuts, Measuring, Stains, & More

February 18 @ 12:00 pm 2:00 pm CST

This is a basic basic woodworking class. The fundamentals. Making chair comes later.

Do you dream of making things out of wood? Yeah, we do too. Before you get to bench building, understand the different types of wood you can use, how they are different, how to plan a project, and think about stains and finishes. They all act and cost differently, so it does make a difference.

We’ll discuss hard and soft woods, options for projects and resources that aren’t hard to find, how to plan staining and sealing, and materials and tools to have on hand.

You will learn:

  • About hard and softwoods
  • About woodgrain
  • Tools and materials for basic woodworking
  • Stains and sealers for woodworking projects

Supplies Needed:

All supplies for the class will be provided for you, including safety gear.

Class policies and cancellation.
