Carpentry: Build a Bookcase with Shelves
March 30 @ 9:00 am – 2:00 pm CDT
Build a basic bookcase with us, and make a more complicated one later.
I have a spot on a landing that would be perfect for a bookcase, but nothing I’ve ever found online or in a store will work. Gotta make my own!
In this class, we’ll build a simple bookcase with shelves. We’ll measure and cut the wood and use different hand and power tools to assemble it. You’ll leave with your finished bookcase with a coat of stain on it.
Plus, we’ll send you home with some polyurethane to finish it when the stain dries.
If you haven’t taken Wood Basics and Wood Joinery, that would be a good idea. But it’s not required or anything. We’ll use some of those skills in this class.
We will break for lunch. Bring a lunch and water bottle with you!
You will learn:
- Bookcase materials: MDF, wood, etc.
- Tools and safety
- Nail guns and adhesives
- Making doors with hinges
- How to use a nail gun
- Different ways to make shelves
- How to stain and seal
All supplies for the class will be provided for you, including safety gear.
